What is Drain Smart?

Drain Smart is a public art and environmental education program that uses murals to communicate the link between street litter, storm drains, and water quality. Municipal storm drains flow directly to our streams, rivers, and lakes, meaning litter and other pollutants on the street end up in our waterways too. The drain art makes people think twice before disposing of anything down a storm drain.

Where is Drain Smart?

For 2017 there 18 murals to be completed by June 5: 6 on 12th Street, 6 on Kavanaugh in Hillcrest & The Heights, 2 at the Promenade at Chenal, and 4 at Bass Pro Shops and the Outlets of Little Rock. Murals can also be viewed around the River Market/Downtown, South Main St., Center St., and War Memorial. Other cities with mural projects include Fayetteville-Springdale, Hot Springs, Arkadelphia, Pine Bluff, and Conway.
