FOFC Volunteer Clean-up a Huge Success

More than 8 Tons of Trash Removed from Fourche Creek

Thank you to all the Friends of Fourche Creek who made the March 12 cleanup a whopping success!

Despite rain and flooding during the week leading up to the 7th Annual City Wide Cleanup, 123 Friends of Fourche Creek showed up at Interstate Park last Saturday. After a collective 500 hours of volunteer time that morning we were able to remove roughly 6 tons of trash and another 2 tons of tires (about 170 tires) from about 75 acres of parkland along Fourche Creek.

Thanks to Mayor Stodola for his support of FoFC. Thanks to Keep Little Rock Beautiful, the City of Little Rock, Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, and Audubon Arkansas for providing supplies. Thanks to the LR Parks & Recreation Dept. for providing lunch, and to the State Fairgrounds for hosting the lunch. Thanks to Starbucks on Sam Peck Road for the coffee. Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers of Friends of Fourche Creek for making it a successful event.

Stay tuned for our next cleanup in April. Know that even as FoFC continues to pull trash from the creek, progress is slowly being made on long-term solutions.
