Teams compete to find the greatest number of bird species in 24 hours during BirdLR on May 1, 2021. The team sets a fundraising goal as well as a goal for how many species of bird they hope to see. Then the team collects pledges and donations from friends, family, and community members. Donors can pledge per bird or just make a contribution to the team.
The Birdathon is competitive, but the rules have been relaxed this year. Read the rules below to learn how COVID-19 is impacting the compeition.
Two team categories are available to provide everyone the opportunity to participate in a way that is safe and comfortable for all. Teams should mark the category on their registration form.
- Group Birdathon team- two to five participants, $250/fundraising minimum
- Backyard Birdathon team- an individual or household, $100 fundraising minimum
On Sunday May 16, all teams are invited to join us at the virtual Bird Bash (time TBD) where teams will share about their BirdLR experience. Prizes will be announced for Most Species (Group), Most Species (Backyard), and Most Money Raised.
Please note, in the event of severe weather the Birdathon rain date will be Saturday, May 15. Save the date, just in case.
Team registration deadline is March 31. To register, teams must submit the team registration form via email or via mail to the Little Rock Audubon Center (4500 Springer Blvd., Little Rock, AR 72206).
- Full registration packet can be downloaded here.
- Individual forms (Team Registration Form, Birdathon Rules, Pledge Tracker, etc.) can also be downloaded below.
Each registered team will have their own Birdathon Team Profile and Donation page to make fundraising easier. To get an idea of what your Team Profile might look like, take a look at our Sample Birdathon Team Profile.
