Fourche Creek Cleanup & BioBlitz Results, Kayak Winner

Learn what lurks in the heart of Fourche Bottoms.

THANK YOU to the 58 volunteers who joined us on October 28 for our Fourche Creek Cleanup & BioBlitz. We removed an estimated 3,150 lbs. of floatable trash, car parts, appliances, 106 tires, and more. Thanks to 3M for sponsoring the event, First Security Bank for providing lunch, and Starbucks for the coffee. Keep Little Rock Beautiful kept us supplied with trashbags and t-shirts. Thanks to Kendal Strayhorn for leading the tire take-out. Susan Williamson took excellent photos once again.

Besides picking up litter, folks had fun discovering some of the many plant and animal species that call Fourche Creek home. Fourche Creek hosts a diversity of wildlife that would not otherwisebe found in the city if it wasn't for this waterway and the greenspace it provides. Results from this BioBlitz will be revealed next year. Thanks to Eric Sundell, Eric Hunt, Jeremy Chamberlain, Devin Moon, and Kevin Schanke for introducing folks to the flora and fauna of Fourche.

CONGRATULATIONS to Lowell Tommy Dillard Jr. who is the winner of the kayak donated by Bass Pro Shops of Little Rock! His name was selected from among all those who registered with us at the Friends of Fourche Creek State Fair booth and at the BioBlitz. Tommy attended the cleanup and looks forward to getting on to Fourche Creek at our next cleanup if not before.
