Described as " a songbird with a raptor's habits," the Loggerhead Shrike is truly a unique bird. The Little Rock Audubon Center is excited to host a bird walk and program about "the Butcher Bird."
Larry McPherson, a retired photography professor at the University of Memphis, documented never-before-seen behaviors while filming in Arkansas’ Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge. A screening of the short film, The Loggerhead Shrike (23 mins.), will be followed by a group discussion with McPherson and Audubon's Dr. Dan Scheiman.
Participants will spend the morning birding with Dr. Dan Scheiman and look for Loggerhead Shrikes at the Little Rock Port and along Fourche Dam Pike.
